This article will show you how to set up and run the new and improved Print to Fax feature.
Initial set up is required before using Print to Fax. Each user will only have to complete the set up process before using Print to Fax for the first time.
First, navigate to the integrations page in the portal by clicking your initials, then Integrations.
NOTE: Users from departments and subaccounts will find the set up button in their user settings.
Click More Info on the Print to Fax icon:
Then, click Download:
Once the download has completed and the app is open, click Set up then Authenticate:
Enter your credentials, or log in through the portal:
You will have to only complete these steps the first time you use the Print to Fax feature. After initial set up, ensure the Print to Fax icon is displaying on your system tray before using the feature:
NOTE: Users can sign in using Microsoft or Google accounts, but single sign-on (SSO) is not supported. However, users who typically authenticate via SSO can still sign in to the print driver through the Integrations page.
Now, you are ready to use Print to Fax.
First, navigate to a document that allows you to print.
Then, click Print on the document, and select the Print to Fax option in the printer selector, and click Print:
The fax modal will take several seconds to pop up. Once it does, enter the information for the fax, and click Send:
Once your fax has been sent, it will appear in your portal's history:
If needed, you are able to attach more than one document to the fax. While the fax modal is open, navigate to the other document, click Print, select Print to Fax, and click Print. The second document will be attached below the first:
NOTE: If you are not seeing Print to Fax as a destination option, be sure to open the app so that it is displaying system tray.

NOTE: To add the silent feature before deploying to multiple devices, use the command:
PrintToFaxSetup.exe /s
NOTE: The print to fax feature is not supported on anything earlier than Windows Server 2019.
Windows server 2019, 2022, 2025 prerequisites
1. Add the Internet Printing role
- Open Server Manager
- Click the Start button
- Select Server Manager
- Launch the Add Roles and Features Wizard
- In Server Manager, click Manage ‣ Add Roles and Features
- In Server Manager, click Manage ‣ Add Roles and Features
- Installation Type
- Choose Role-based or feature-based installation, then click Next
- Choose Role-based or feature-based installation, then click Next
- Select Server
- Highlight the server you want to configure and click Next
- Highlight the server you want to configure and click Next
- Select Server Roles
- Expand Print and Document Services
- Tick Internet Printing, then click Next
- Add Required Features (if prompted)
- Click Add Features, then click Next through the remaining pages
- Click Add Features, then click Next through the remaining pages
- Install
- Review the summary and click Install
2. Enable Internet Printing in IIS
- Open IIS Manager
- Press Windows + R, type inetmgr, and press Enter
- Ensure CGI module is enabled to allow for IIS connections
- Select the Server Node
- In the Connections pane, expand your server’s node
- In the Connections pane, expand your server’s node
- Allow ISAPI & CGI for Internet Printing
- Click the server name
- Double-click ISAPI and CGI Restrictions in the centre pane
- Ensure the entry for Internet Printing is set to Allow
3. Open Firewall Port 8631
- Open Windows Defender Firewall (Advanced Security)
- Press Windows + R, type wf.msc, and press Enter
- Press Windows + R, type wf.msc, and press Enter
- Create a New Inbound Rule
- Click Inbound Rules in the left pane
- Choose New Rule in the right-hand Actions pane
- Select Port and click Next
- Choose TCP and specify Specific local ports: 8631
- Click Next, select Allow the connection, and finish the wizard
Your server is now configured to accept Internet Printing requests on port 8631.
